James

Army veteran, James, came to CareerSource Escarosa and reported that he had been living out of his truck for several months.  As an ex-felon, he was struggling to find employment. Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Representative, Rachel Cain, networked with numerous local agencies to provide him with food, housing, transportation, and proper interview clothes.  He underwent job search and interview training several times with DVOP Cain to better market himself to prospective employers, despite his background.  During this time, he proved his readiness to work by volunteering at local churches throughout the area.

Following his volunteer work, Mr. Bergeron was successfully placed as a laborer at J.D. Construction. After a few short months on the job, he was promoted for his work extensive experience and positive work ethic.  Mr. Bergeron’s employment was made possible by a collaborative effort between CareerSource Escarosa, POE in Action, 90 Works, Monument to Women Veterans, and Rick Dye’s  Faith Work’s Mentorship program.

“I struggled for 8 months…but it was for a reason because it led me here.  My church friends say I look a whole lot happier now. I told them that when you love your job and going to work every day—it shows,” – Army Veteran, James Bergeron
