The Pensacola job market is a tough nut to crack. My husband is an officer in the USMC and with a move to Pensacola looming on the horizon, I started my hunt for a job early. Nothing came up before we arrived, which ended up turning into months of full time job searching with no results, even though I was educated, certified, qualified, and even opened my own business in my hometown that is still running to this day. This continued until I was given the information on the CareerSource Escarosa Military Family Employment Advocate Program. I wasn’t sure what to expect, as I have never dealt with a program such as this, but with options getting smaller and smaller, I decided to give it a shot. Mrs. Myra Gamblin, the Military Family Employment Advocate, turned out to be my greatest resource. In our first meeting, we talked in depth about my previous experiences and present aspirations. I could tell that she had a real passion for helping me get on track with my employment goals. She helped me setup my online profile on their easy to use website, and helped me navigate through the myriad of job listings that CareerSource had to offer. After a few short weeks, mind you I had been looking for a job on my own for about five months now, it was actually Myra who found a listing for me that she thought I would like. It turns out, I did! Within days, I had applied, gotten an interview, and received an offer for a full time position, doing something I really enjoyed! My experience was wonderful from start to finish. I felt like I truly had a local expert in my corner, and it made all the difference in my search for employment.
